Typefully alternatives: free and paid options

The best Typefully alternative depends on why you're leaving. Buffer suits you if you want a low price across many networks. Tweet Hunter or SuperX suit you if you want a viral post library. X's own composer is free for simple scheduling. Repli is for people who don't know what to post, and it doesn't schedule. If you only need a good writing and scheduling tool, Typefully may still be the right pick.

We make Repli, so weigh our view with that in mind. We took these details from each company's site on November 3, 2026. Prices and features change, and we haven't measured how much any tool grows an account.

What Typefully offers today

Typefully's pricing page lists:

It posts to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, among others. Its site also lists auto-plug and auto-retweet features. At about $8.25 a month on an annual plan, it's the cheapest paid option in this guide that's focused on writing.

How each one compares

X's own composer. It's free and it already exists. The account we tested on x.com had a Schedule post button, though yours may differ. It lacks a dedicated editor and detailed analytics from a third party.

Buffer. Its free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. It has more free posts overall than Typefully if you use several networks, but it allows only one threaded post on the free plan. Buffer is less focused on long threads, so try it if threads are your main format. Check how paid plans count channels.

Tweet Hunter. More expensive, starting at $29 a month, but with more features aimed at X growth. Those include a library of 12 million viral tweets, auto-DMs and an AI writer on Grow and up. Pick this if you want those extras. Compare the X automation rules before you turn on auto-DMs.

SuperX. Lists Pro at $49, Advanced at a $49 launch price (normally $99), and Ultra at $199 a month. It has a Chrome extension. Advanced adds a library of more than 10 million viral posts.

Hypefury. Its current site lists six networks, and X isn't among them. It may suit people who've moved away from X. Check first if you need X.

Repli. It doesn't compete with Typefully as an editor. It plans what to post and who to reply to each morning, and it writes drafts in your voice. It has no scheduler and covers only X. Some people could use both: Repli to decide, Typefully to queue. You'd be paying for two tools, so only do it if you need both.

When to stay with Typefully

Stay if you already know what to write, you like its editor, and $99 a year doesn't bother you. There's little point paying more for features you won't use. Your growth depends much more on what you post and who you talk to than on which editor you use.

How to choose

Most of these have a free plan or trial, so try the one you lean toward for a couple of weeks.

Common questions

Is there a free alternative to Typefully?

Yes. X's composer and Buffer's free plan both let you schedule posts without paying, with limits.

Is there an open source Typefully alternative?

We didn't evaluate any for this guide, so we can't recommend one. If you self-host, check that the tool uses X's official API. X's rules warn against scripting the website, and API access has its own costs.

Does scheduling with a third-party tool hurt reach?

We found no sign of it in the code we read, but we can't rule it out. Test it if you're concerned.

Does Repli replace Typefully?

Only if your real need is deciding what to post. Repli doesn't schedule anything.

Next step

Write down why you're leaving. If it's the price or the format, pick from the table above. If it's that the blank page is the real problem, try our free tweet idea generator or Repli's demo.
